The Bastille-République quarter

The hotel is located at the crossing of Boulevard Richard-Lenoir and rue Oberkampf.
In this vicinity during the 18th century, Francois Richard (1765-1839) founded a cotton spinning mill. Philippe Oberkampf (1738-1815) was the creator of the first printed fabric mill in Jouy-en-Josas, hence the name “toile de Jouy.” The quarter was historically one of craft professions, and the nearby Faubourg Saint-Antoine still remains a center for handmade furniture.
Nearby the hotel are located many rich cultural and commercial sites.
